Barney Lopez

Education/Training Coordinator

Barney Lopez is an actor, director, playwright, theatre educator, improviser, and designer, though, Lopez mainly considers himself, "a director who does other stuff, too." Barney Lopez made his directing debut in 2007 with a successful production of "Cloud Tectonics" by Jose Rivera and followed up with an experimental production of "Fur" by Migdalia Cruz for which Miss Cruz flew in from New York to view. As a director, Barney Lopez specializes in Latino theatre, new work, and
comedy. Memorable acting roles include Ben in "Seascape with Sharks and Dancers" and Orestes in "Electricidad." Barney Lopez has been teaching theatre to Albuquerque's youth for two years now and has toured two shows, Juanito: A Cuento by Leonard Madrid and Rosario and the Bull by Marz Mraz, around Albuquerque area schools. Barney enjoys playing music, writing and improvising in his spare time.
